Dua Lipa has been praised after releasing a new single and music video for the Barbie film soundtrack. Titled Dance The Night, the upbeat pop track has been acclaimed 'song of the summer' by fans.
It's the first single the star has put out in a year and is within keeping of the sound of her 2020 album Future Nostalgia, which spent 4 weeks at the top of the UK albums chart. It was announced last month that Dua would be making her acting debut as Mermaid Barbie in the Greta Gerwig blockbuster, slated for release on July 21.
The Brit is escorted from the rain to a film set where she's taught new choreography in the newly-released Dance The Night music video. Suddenly, a disco ball smashes on the floor and Dua looks shocked.

The screen freezes on her face, with text appearing that reads: "Dua Lipa. This Barbie is making a music video". The format follows the barbie posters used to announce the main cast of the film earlier this year - and have now, of course, become a meme.
In the three-and-a-half minute music video, Dua looks sensational in a baby pink sparkly bodysuit, sky blue sequin mini-skirt and thigh-high boots. The look is completed with chunky, gold accessories, while the singer's dark hair is swept into a high ponytail.
Scenes include Dua dancing in various locations, including on a stage in front of two large eyeshadow pallets, in a dressing room as clothing rails weave around her and as she's surrounded by other dancers. She's also sat in the iconic pink Barbie car towards the end of the video.
Fans were delighted by both the song and video and quickly hailed the Brit School graduate the 'queen of pop'. @THATSALLOVERNOW wrote: "NEW DUA OMG THE QUEEN OF POP HAS COME TO GIVE SONG OF THE SUMMER" while @Evermart17 added: "DUA’S NEW SONG STFU THE QUEEN OF POP IS BACK".
@prettynostalgla said on Twitter: "you ask for a pop banger and dua lipa gives it to you #barbie" while @Baba_B_ added: "This new Barbie Dua Lipa kinda fire". @godgatica gushed: "song of the summer!!" and @maxrgot added: "YOU ATE!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS SONG".
The hype continued over on YouTube, with Jonquality commenting: "Continuing the brilliance of Future Nostalgia, this tune is another banger, proper free good summer vibes! Dua you are without doubt the Queen of pop" while Rose Berry added: "I have a feeling this song will be stuck in my head all day. I love it!"
It follows the announcement that the Barbie soundtrack would be released on the same day as the highly-anticipated film. Charli XCX, Lizzo, Tame Impala, Nicki Minaj and of course Dua Lipa are among the stars featuring on Barbie: The Album.
It will also include tracks from Ava Max, Dominic Fike, Fifty Fifty, Gayle, Haim, Ice Spice, Kali, Karol G, Khalid, PinkPantheress, Ryan Gosling and the Kid Laroi.
