Two Victorian men allegedly caught riding a golf buggy stolen from the Womadelaide music festival have been arrested, with one charged with drink-driving.

The arrests were among several incidents on SA's roads overnight, with officers also called to the South Eastern Freeway where road spikes were used to stop a car that was driving on the wrong side of the road.

In the incident involving the buggy, the vehicle was spotted and stopped by a police patrol in Adelaide's CBD early this morning, and the 44-year-old driver was breath-tested.

The buggy also had a 37-year-old passenger on board at the time, police said.

"I think these two will be waking up with a sore head this morning, that's for sure," Senior Constable Kylee Simpson told ABC Radio Adelaide.

"About 4:45am patrols saw a golf buggy putting along King William Street.

"The buggy had actually been stolen from Hackney Road earlier in the night, from Womad [at Botanic Park]."

After the breath test, the driver allegedly returned a reading of 0.133 and was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, drink driving and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

The passenger was charged with illegal use and issued an adult caution.

"Both men are from Victoria and they're still with police at the moment, discussing their bail options," Senior Constable Simpson said.

"These two, 44 and 37 — definitely old enough to know better."

Police later said the driver had been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in May.

Road spikes end Freeway pursuit

A short time after the CBD incident, police were called to the South Eastern Freeway near Bridgewater, where a car was spotted travelling on the wrong side of the road.

Police said several people reported seeing the car about 5:40am, and that the Holden sedan did a U-turn onto the correct side of the road before turning around again.

"[It] headed east on the wrong side of the freeway, causing several minor collisions with members of the public before road spikes were used to stop the car near the Mount Barker Interchange," police said.

The driver, a 26-year-old Adelaide Hills man, was arrested and charged with endangering life and dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit.

The man will appear in court on Tuesday.

Emergency services were also called to Pinda Street at Kilkenny, where a stolen car was engulfed by fire about 12:30am.

The Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) extinguished the blaze, but the Mitsubishi, which had been stolen from Ottaway yesterday, was destroyed.
