A Paisley driver has been banned from the road after telling cops “I’m f****d” after she drunkenly crashed her car.
Rosemary Lawrie, of Glencoats Drive in the town, ploughed her Hyndai Amica into a parked car on May 31 last year after taking a corner “too fast.”
Lawrie - who had an unblemished driving licence -was banned and fined yesterday at Paisley Sheriff Court for the offence.
The court heard: “Around 6.20pm on May 31 the witness was within their home when he heard a loud bang outside.
“When he looked outside, he could see his parked vehicle and across the middle of the road they saw the accused’s vehicle with the accused in the driver’s seat.
“Another witness who was on the public pathway saw a collision taking place and they approached the accused and assisted her out of her car.
“This witness noted the accused appeared to be unsteady on her feet and assisted Lawrie back into the vehicle.
“The other witness had left his home and observed damage to the rear right-hand side of his vehicle.
“He spoke to the accused and he was concerned she was under the influence of a substance.”

The court heard police attended and, on speaking with Lawrie, they noted her “eyes were glazed, her speech was slurred and there was a strong smell of alcohol from her.”
When officers spoke to Lawrie, she freely stated: “I’m f****d. I’m f****d due to alcohol. I hit the vehicle. I was going round the corner too fast.”
Lawrie, 55, went on to fail a roadside breath test and was subsequently arrested and taken to Greenock police station where she refused to provide two breath samples for analysis, stating to officers it was “Because you’re talking s**t.”
Defence agent Paul Lynch told the court how Lawrie has been driving since 1991 and had a clean licence up until this incident.
Mr Lynch told: “Ms Lawrie put herself on a self-imposed ban since this incident. She hasn’t been behind the wheel since and doesn’t intend to drive again.
“She fully accepts she was over the limit, in any event.
“She’s previously been of good character but was made redundant in during lockdown in October 2020 and has suffered from a depressive illness since.
“She has too much time on her hands after losing her job and on this day declined into a real depression and foolishly drove to the shops.”
Sheriff Lindsay Kooner said: “It’s extremely unfortunate that a lady previously of good character finds herself at court.”
Sheriff Kooner banned Lawrie from driving for 12 months and imposed a fine of £335 per month to be paid at £30 per month.
