Drugs and a machete have been discovered inside a car after it crashed into a lamppost in Nottingham. Officers were called to Robin’s Wood Road, Broxtowe Estate, after receiving reports of a crash.
The car was reportedly being driven at high speed before it lost control at the junction with Aspley Park Drive and collided with a lamppost. The car sustained serious damage during the incident, which happened at around 2.20am on Saturday, June 17.
There were no serious injuries. After the driver failed a roadside breathalyser test, police carried out a search of the vehicle, where they discovered quantities of cannabis, weighing scales and multiple phones.

Officers then found a machete inside the car, before also spotting a rucksack located nearby that contained more cannabis. The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, possession of an offensive weapon and drink-driving.
Detective Sergeant Steve Willetts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “While we are still investigating the particulars of this case, what is clear is just how fortunate everyone involved was that nobody was hurt. While attending the scene of this crash, our officers managed to locate and seize quantities of drugs, along with a machete – an item that is illegal for anyone to carry in public.
“Clearly, we don’t want to see any of the scenes from this incident replicated anywhere on our streets. Anyone found to be behaving in this manner should expect to see themselves brought under arrest.
“Our inquiries are still ongoing into this incident, so we’d ask anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation to get in touch with us straight away."
