The 70-year-old cyclist was travelling along Red Cat Lane, towards Curlew Lane, when he was involved in a crash with a Renault Clio, also travelling in the same direction. Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash at around 1.40pm on Sunday, April 3.
An air ambulance attended to take the cyclist to hospital with several broken bones and fractures. His injuries are being described by police as 'potentially life-changing.'

Two passengers in the Renault Clio, girls aged 11, suffered minor injuries in the crash. The road was closed for around three hours while collision investigators attended the scene.
Officers have since confirmed a 32-year-old man, from Skelmersdale, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving, excess drugs, dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Lancashire police are now appealing for information and are asking anybody who witnessed the collision, or either of the vehicles in the moments before it happened, to get in touch. Sergeant Peter Snook, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations team, said: "This was a nasty collision which left a cyclist in hospital with serious injuries. Our enquiries are very much ongoing to establish exactly what occurred.
"If you have any information that can help us piece together what happened we would ask that you get in touch straight away. Maybe you saw one of both the vehicles in the moments before the collision, or saw the collision itself, or perhaps you have dashcam or CCTV.
"Whatever information you have, please let us know." Anybody with information is asked to get in touch on 101, quoting log 714 of April 3rd.
