Richard Caswell conspired with the Cox brothers to steal a 30kg cocaine haul from a house on Croxdale Road West. A father and son were slashed and beaten during the violent robbery when over £1m of cocaine was stolen by Caswell, Jason and Craig Cox.

Last month Manchester Crown Court heard how the Cox brothers soon began selling the stolen drugs to criminal associates across the city. Michael Nevin, who worked as a courier for the Cox gang, contacted East Manchester drug boss Leon Atkinson.

Atkinson sent a pal of his to meet Nevin near the Manchester City ground in the Openshaw area of the city. At the handover Nevin sold six kilograms of cocaine to Nathan Powell, who used the Encro handle 'Festivetape.'

David Ungi 'may need to face justice in Spain' before being dragged back to UK

David Ungi, 30, was being sought for his suspected role in the murder of 18-year-old Vinny Waddington in Liverpool in 2015 (National Crime Agency)

One of the UK's most wanted fugitives may need to face justice in Spain before being returned to the UK to be questioned on suspicion of murder.

David Ungi jnr was arrested at a gym inside a shopping centre in the town of Coin, Malaga, alongside three other men. The National Crime Agency (NCA) said officers in Spain had also seized a 9mm Ruger gun and ammunition from a rucksack during the operation.

Ungi, formerly of Melbreck Road in Allerton, boarded a ferry from Dover and disappeared onto the European mainland on July 15, 2015, less than 24 hours after teenager Vinny Waddington was shot dead in Banks Road, Garston. Two men were convicted of murder and jailed for life in 2016, but Ungi remained wanted until Thursday last week (May 5).

Ungi, now 30, has already appeared before a Spanish court for a first appearance and extradition proceedings are likely to follow. However the ECHO understands in "most cases" in Spain alleged domestic offences are considered first before extradition proceedings can commence.

A man in his 50's was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after a crash between a motorbike and car.

Emergency services rushed to Coastal Road in Southport at around 1.30pm on Monday, May 9, following reports of a crash. Once at the scene officers from Merseyside Police found a blue Honda motorbike and a grey and white Toyota SUV were involved in the incident, which happened at the junction of Willowbank Holiday Home & Touring Park.

The North West Ambulance Service was called to the crash and an air ambulance was also requested. The helicopter landed in a nearby field and a man in his 50s was airlifted from the scene to hospital with injuries described as 'serious'.

A spokesperson from the North West Ambulance Service said: "A man in his 50s was airlifted to hospital following an RTC involving motorcyclist. We received a 999 call at 1.29pm."

A spokesperson from the North West Air Ambulance Charity said: “We can confirm that the North West Air Ambulance Charity was called to a road traffic collision (RTC) in Ainsdale, at approximately 1.50pm on Monday, May 9.”

Merseyside Police closed the Coastal Road in both directions while dealing with the incident, causing delays in the wider area. Cars began queueing on Pinfold Lane as they tried to get onto Liverpool Road to avoid the crash.
