Drone footage shows devastation from Russian missile attack that killed four

Horrifying drone footage shows the damage done to the residential apartment blocks by this morning’s Russian missile attack in Lviv that killed four and injured many more.

The attack was the largest on Lviv’s civilian infrastructure since Russia invaded Ukraine last year and it destroyed entire floors of the residential building that was struck.

Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said around 60 apartments and 50 cars in the area of the strike were damaged.

The video shows a wide, curving, four-storey apartment building ripped to shreds with the upper floors missing or reduced to rubble.

Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian war refugees have sought safety in Lviv from other areas to the east, but today's attack shows nowhere is safe from the brutality of Russian President Vladimir Putin's forces.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted a reaction on Telegram, saying: "Unfortunately, there are wounded and dead. My condolences to the relatives! There will definitely be a response to the enemy. A tangible one."

Ihor Klymenko, Ukraine's interior minister, said at least seven people had been rescued from the apartment block and he feared more people could be trapped under rubble.

Sadovyi posted another video a little while later and said a number of roofs of buildings had blown away, while a school and polytechnic university dormitories were also damaged.

Meanwhile, the latest Ministry of Defence update has said military formations across Russia are "bearing the brunt of counteroffensive."

Today's update read: "In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the 58th Combined Arms Army is defending heavily entrenched lines; normally it secures Russia’s volatile Caucasus region.

"Around Velyka Novosilka, the 5th Combined Arms Army and Naval Infantry hold the front; they are routinely based 7000km away as a balance to Chinese power.

"Around Bakhmut, the defence is now largely formed around airborne regiments normally stationed in western Russia, who normally act as an elite rapid reaction force in case of tensions with NATO.

"The way Russia is accepting risks across Eurasia highlights how the war has dislocated Russia’s established national strategy."
