Drivers have been issued a warning following a 'grey area' regarding the hard shoulder on the motorway.
Motorists are being reminded that ‘emergency’ stops on the motorway hard shoulder might not be viewed as an emergency at all - and you could face prosecution for it.
If your car breaks down, that is an emergency, but other than that, experts warn it could be open to interpretation and if the police don't recognise it as an emergency, you could face fines and in the worst case a driving ban and prosecution.
