A driver with a "time-travelling insurance broker" has been caught out by police in Manchester city centre.
Officers patroling in the centre of Manchester spotted a black Toyota Auris on Ancoats Street on Saturday evening, April 30. When they pulled the driver over, they discovered the man had a "dodgy" insurance policy that had apparently been issued in 2023.
The policy was deemed to be invalid due to the alleged issue date being more than seven months in the future, and officers have summoned the driver to court.

A Tweet posted on the GMP Traffic account showed a picture of the the vehicle alongside details of the drivers "time-travelling insurance broker". It read: "On Ancoats St last night our GMP Transport Unit officers found this driver, let's call him Bruce, had a time travelling insurance broker who issued his dodgy insurance cert in 2023 apparently. Will be Summonsed to Court last August & banned till 2019."
Police have the power to seize and, in some cases, destroy vehicles being driven without insurance, and can fine drivers and issue six penalty points if they catch drivers in cars they're not insured for. A case up at courts can also disqualify someone from driving for a period of time.
