There's a lot of factors we have to consider when driving such as the weather, traffic and any roadworks that may impact our journey.
However, there are some things that people may be doing without realising it could land them with points on their licence and a potential fine. Because of this, experts at GoShorty have a full list of the penalties that would get you the most points on your licence.
For example, splashing pedestrians could land you with a £5,000 fine as well as three points, with failing to complying to traffic directions and signs also potentially resulting in a hefty fine and penalty points.

Head over to the ‘penalties and disqualifications’ tab
Andy Moody, Director at GoShorty, explains: "Getting 12 points on your driving licence in less than three years could get you disqualified from driving. On top of that, getting points on your licence will also result in the increase of your insurance policy, as your insurance provider will want to be informed about all your motoring convictions in the past three years (five in some cases).
“It is for these reasons, as well as to ensure that everyone’s being safe on the road, that it is useful to keep in mind which are the offences that would get you the most points on your licence.”
