A driver was trapped in his car until emergency services arrived after a crash at Switch Island tonight.
At 4.51pm Merseyside Fire and Recuse were alerted to a crash close to Asda supermarket . The busy junction that connects the M57, M58, and main roads leading to a number of towns in Merseyside were partially closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
One person was trapped inside the vehicle until ambulance crews arrived and were able to help the person navigate their way out. . Both drivers invovled were then taken to hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: " Crews were alerted at 4.51pm and on scene at 4.59pm. Two fire engines attended. On arrival, crews found two vehicles had been involved in a collision at Switch Island, close to Asda.
"One person was still inside one of the vehicles but following assessment from paramedics, was able to self-extricate. They were then conveyed to hospital for further treatment. No further action was required from firefighters and the incident was handed over to Merseyside Police."
