A "lovely" mum-of-two was killed after a delivery driver fell asleep at the wheel of his van despite having a coffee with "14 sugars". Chelmsford Crown Court heard Piotr Bebacz was on the last delivery of his shift when the horror crash happened.
Care worker Nicola Frost, 40, was killed instantly on the A120 near Harwich, Essex. Bebacz, 38, admitted causing death by dangerous driving and was jailed for 40 months. The court heard the driver had five or six coffees but still drifted onto the wrong side of the carriageway and collided with the driver side of a HGV at around 6.45am on December 11 last year.
His Mercedes Sprinter van then rebounded off the lorry’s body and smashed into Ms Frost’s Suzuki, which was being driven behind the HGV. She had been on her way to an overtime shift to “earn some more pennies” before the holidays, her grieving husband Michael told the court in a statement.
