A motorist had a lucky escape when their car landed on its side on a County Durham cycling and walking path in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A silver Volkswagen Golf with a mangled rear end and both its airbags deployed partially blocked the Derwent Walk near Ebchester.
A sign in the window showed that police were aware of the incident before the recovery operation could begin.

Durham Constabulary confirmed that no-one had been injured in the incident and it was reported to them just after 3am on Saturday July 1.
At the time of writing, the recovery operation was under way.
Pictures of the car were shared on Twitter with the caption: "This is the Derwent Walk, a shared walking and cycling facility and (almost) totally inaccessible to motorists."
One commenter responded: "I mean, there's parking in cycleways, and then..."
A second added: ""can't park there mate..."
