A car flipped and landed on its side when the driver lost control before it was abandoned at the side of the road.
Merseyside Police confirmed the incident that happened in Netherton last night, with the driver sprinting from the scene of the crash. Photos show the white car abandoned on its side after appearing to have hit the kerb.
The car, that landed as Glovers Lane and Fleetwood's Lane meet, was attended by police, with the driver being tracked down with the help of the police dog unit. The driver was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including drink driving.

Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Unit shared the news of the crash and the arrest on Twitter. The tweet said: "This driver lost control of their vehicle in Netherton. The driver ran from the vehicle but was tracked down a short distance away with the help of PD Yoko, and was arrested by a response officer on suspicion of a number of offences including drink driving."
People were quick to heap praise on the police unit, with @gabbysgran replying: "Great result, well done PD Yoko." @Spencerjohn7 also tweeted: "Nice one Yoko."
