Driver injured after police car crashes into VW on way to Leeds emergency call

West Yorkshire Police have issued a statement after a marked police car responding to an emergency call crashed into a car last night., injuring the driver.

The crash happened at around 7.10pm yesterday (Wednesday) in Crown Point Road near Leeds city centre.

The marked police car crashed into a Volkswagen Up being driven by a member of the public.

A spokesperson for the force said the driver of the Volkswagen had minor injuries and the police driver was taken to hospital for checks.

The force has said: “At about 7.10pm yesterday, a marked police vehicle, which was responding to an emergency call, was involved in a collision with a member of the public’s Volkswagen Up in Crown Point Road, Leeds.

“The driver of the Volkswagen received minor injuries. The police driver was taken to hospital to be checked over and was later discharged with no serious injuries.

The scene was cleared and roads reopened shortly before 9.30pm.”
