A driver has died in a freak parking ticket machine accident after being left stuck for days.

The unidentified man, from Atlanta, US, arrived at the car park of the Starling Hotel on the 1000 block of Peachtree Street at around 12.15am on Thursday.

However, the driver soon realised he had forgotten to park his pickup truck in a parking spot.

The man went to open his car door to press the button which operates the exit gate.

But as he pressed the machine his arm became stuck after he accidentally rolled his car, which pinned him to the ticket machine.

Emergency services arrived at the car park but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrived at the scene at around 5.40am on January 19 after a security guard alerted authorities following the discovery of Ms Strauss.

Security footage from inside the garage shows Ms Strauss at 45 Vine Street dropping her credit card as she attempted to pay for parking whilst she exited.

But when Ms Strauss opened her car door to try and pick up the card she accidentally put her foot on the accelerator, police confirmed.
