Police have charged the 40-year-old female driver involved in a fatal crash that killed two cyclists in north Canberra last month.
The crash was reported about 6.20am on Thursday, August 27, between Well Station Drive and Kosciuszko Avenue in Palmerston after a blue Hyundai Accent crashed into a group of five triathletes on a cycling training session.
Triathlete Bridie Lee, 32, from Perth died at the scene following the crash and her 39-year-old fellow rider was transported to hospital in a critical condition before succumbing to his injuries a week later.
Ryan Riethmuller, 39, succumbed to severe head injuries and died in hospital on September 3, a week after the incident.
Their deaths are among 11 people killed on ACT roads this year.
Officers from ACT Policing's Major Collision Team began an investigation into the fatal crash and on September 18, issued the 40-year-old driver with a summons to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court.
The woman will face court next month where she is expected to be charged with two charges of culpable driving causing death and one charge of negligent driving causing actual bodily harm.
