Dream travel job could see lucky Scot go to Maldives in all expenses paid gig

The Maldives is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations - and for good reason.

The tropical islands in the heart of the Indian ocean boast crystal white sands, sapphire blue seas and romantic resorts, making it the perfect getaway for newlyweds.

Its beautiful setting also makes for the perfect backdrop for those romantic snaps. Now, a travel company is offering one Scot the chance to stay there free of charge - while also getting paid.

Kuoni, which offers handpicked all inclusive holidays to the luxury location is looking for an amateur snapper "with a flair for the creative" to be its official honeymoon photographer-in-residence. This alone sounds too good to be true, but it gets better — the chosen candidate can bring a guest and £2,885 for three-weeks of work - equivalent to a salary of £50,000.

As reported by Wales Online, the assignment will also require travel to not one, but four different Maldives resorts. The company said that the "ideal candidate will have a passion for romance and the ability to frame great moments in every shot".

A Kouni spokesperson said: "Many couples invest thousands of pounds in a top-notch wedding photographer, but when it comes to their honeymoon, they're often left with subpar selfies or out-of-focus snapshots.

"Kuoni knows that newlyweds deserve the best of the best when it comes to preserving their first trip since the big day and that's why it's launching this search for an exceptional honeymoon photographer.

"The selected candidate will have the opportunity to be the lens through which newlyweds can relive their unforgettable honeymoon experience for years to come; capturing the activities experienced amongst Kuoni’s incredible honeymoon destinations."

The lucky individual will first be posted across resorts in Kuramathi, Kandolhu, Baros and Velassaru. Each stunning paradise offers their own unique experiences and atmospheres. The photographer will be stationed for three weeks there in 2023 - with all expenses paid - in order to capture couples in wedded bliss.

To enter, amateur photographers will need to visit photographer.kuoni.co.uk and submit their best shots and a rationale as to why they should be selected. After the search closes, the Kuoni panel of judges will select a winner, who will be sent to The Maldives to assume their new position.

Before going to the islands, the winner will also receive personal training with Sandra Von Reikoff, a renowned wedding photographer responsible for capturing newlywed celebrities and even royalty - including Princess Eugenie at her nuptials in 2018.

Rachel O’Reilly, director of communications at Kuoni, said: "Every year couples spend thousands of pounds on capturing the perfect images of their wedding day, but when it comes to honeymoon photography, very few couples have beautiful pictures of themselves together to remember their honeymoon - which is truly their holiday of a lifetime.

"A Kuoni honeymoon is unforgettable, but now we’re offering our customers the chance to share and capture their earliest days as newlyweds. Our new Honeymoon Photographer-In-Residence will be on-island with our customers, capturing their most special moments together which they can cherish and relive forever.”

The panel of judges who will be selecting the successful candidate includes Mark Duguid, managing director at Kuoni, as well as Sandra Von Riekoff and Zoe Burke, editor of Hitched. The judging will take place on May 5 and a winner will be announced shortly after.
