Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green couldn’t stop gushing over his team’s young talent after Thursday’s 128–110 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Warriors took care of business at home against a short-handed Lakers team that was without LeBron James, and Green made sure to give credit to the “young guys” who were stepping up for the team this season.
“I think we’re on a great trajectory,” Green said in a postgame interview. “You always hope the young guys take a step in the right direction, and as we can see, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin [Podziemski], Moses [Moody], Trayce [Jackson-Davis]—those young guys, they’ve unlocked this team. I think the possibilities are endless, I think this team has an unlimited amount of potential, and we’re trending in the right direction at the right time.”

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry led the way with 32 points and eight assists, but Golden State’s youth made a difference across the court. Jackson-Davis, a rookie, went 8 of 10 for 17 points, Kuminga recorded his 34th consecutive double-digit scoring game with 12 points and Podziemski logged a team-high nine rebounds.
Following Thursday’s victory, the Warriors have scored over 125 points in four straight games for the first time since 1989 and continue their midseason hot streak, having won nine of their last 11 games.
Green can praise the Warriors’ young core for their recent surge, but Green’s return from suspension has also buoyed the team in more ways than one. The four-time All-Star needs just two more blocks to become the third Warriors player in history to record at least 800 career blocks.
The Warriors (28–26) have a 3.5 game lead over the Utah Jazz for the No. 10 seed in the West and are within half a game of the Lakers for the No. 9 seed.
