Draymond Green claps back at Jusuf Nurkic after Warriors win

The Golden State Warriors added another win to their current resurgence as they defeated the Phoenix Suns on Saturday (Feb. 10.) The game marked the first time Draymond Green had faced off against Suns since his suspension-inducing altercation with Jusuf Nurkic earlier in the season. Shortly after the game, Nurkic claimed that Green “hadn’t learned anything” from his suspension.

However, the Warriors veteran forward quickly tried to set the record straight. Green responded to Nurkic’s comments during his own post-game press conference. He noted how Nurkic’s “too small” gesture during the game led to some increased physicality.

“You can’t get bullied a couple of plays later if you’re gonna do that [the too small gesture.] You can’t be a nothing defender, if you’re gonna do that. So, you know, if you’re gonna do all that…That man probably outweighs me by 70lbs, and you get put in the rim? Gotta be more careful.”

Green appeared to be in a jovial mood when making his comments. Furthermore, he had enjoyed an impactful game against Phoenix. He ended the game with 15 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds, shooting 77.8% from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range.

Green has been a core contributor since returning from his suspension. His defensive skillset and his leadership qualities have both been shining through, as has his ability to read the game on offense. He is also thriving as the Warriors small-ball five. Steve Kerr will likely be hoping Green can continue his impactful run, as the Warriors try to turn their season around.
