This is the dramatic moment a huge bolt of lightning appeared over the Manchester city centre skyline - as the region was battered by a huge tropical storm.
Roads became flooded and trees were reported to have fallen after balmy temperatures were broken by an impressive display of torrential rain, hail, thunder and lightning this evening.
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms had been issued by the Met Office until 9pm. Residents across the region were braced for flooding and disruption.

That didn't stop thousands of Manchester City fans turning out to watch the treble-winning team parade through the streets of the city centre.
Rain could be seen lashing down, with thunder crackling in the background. At one point, a lightning strike was captured in the sky behind Beetham Tower - where the parade began.
Bolts of lightning were also spotted over the Trafford Centre, which footage appearing to show rain pouring through the ceiling of a CostCo in Trafford Park.
In Salford, a number of roads were completely submerged with water, as cars could be seen passing through with difficulty.
By later in the evening, the madness seemed to have calmed down, with temperatures on Tuesday (June 13) expected to rise up to nearly 30 degrees again.
And the hot weather doesn't appear to be letting up any time soon, with the rest of the week forecast to be just as warm.
