New England Patriots veteran cornerback Jonathan Jones sent a message to the team after Sunday’s 32-16 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Many, including Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye, received the message.
Maye had another solid game when making his second official NFL start. He went 26-of-37 passing for 276 yards and two touchdowns. That brought his season total statistics to 541 passing yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions.
He was a bright spot on a tough day overall for the entire Patriots team on Sunday.
“Jon Jones gave a speech after the game, saying, ‘You’ve got to find it. We have to find something.'” Maye said, per a team-provided video, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Keagan Stiefel. “What we’re doing is not good enough. We’ve got to man up.”
It remains to be seen how the Patriots will respond after losing their sixth straight game. They still have time to turn things around, but they’ll need significant improvements on both sides of the ball.
