Drake buys Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann Rolex watches after winning UFC bet

Rapper Drake has bought Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann Rolex watches after winning £3million in a double bet on the UFC stars.

McCann and Pimblett fought on a UFC London card at the O2 arena last month, with Drake placing a $2.3m (£1.9m) wager on the pair to win their fights. McCann came through her test unscathed, securing a superb stoppage victory over Hannah Goldy, before Pimblett choked out Jordan Leavitt to win the hip-hop artist $3.7m (£3.1m).

Backstage after their victories, McCann tagged the Canadian in a video on her Instagram story requesting the musician buys them both plush Rolex watches after winning the money. McCann later confirmed she had received an agreement via Instagram direct messages from Drake who had vowed to purchase the expensive watches.

Now in a video on social media, Pimblett has been gifted his watch while on a trip to America. After being handed the watch he said: "Belter. Thank you very much. Nice one for that Drake, thank you very much for that. He said he'd get us a Rolex and he's got us one?."

Pimblett had jokingly warned Drake that he had better not back out of their plan. "Hopefully he is coming to Chicago in a few days to meet us there and give us our watches," Pimblett told reporters after his win. "Molly was messaging him after the fight so hopefully he comes to Chicago and we can meet him, that would be sound. He can't back out on it now, can he? He said he was going to get us a watch so he has to get us a watch."

In winning his bet, Drake finally broke the curse which had seen him fail with a series of recent bets. He first backed Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington in March with $275,00 only for the welterweight star to be comfortably outpointed by his long-term rival.

He then attempted to chase his loss by backing Justin Gaethje to become UFC lightweight champion back in May but he failed once again with the American quickly choked out by Charles Oliveira. Many MMA fans accused Drake of jinxing fighters rom his past bets but he then overturned his betting form by backing Israel Adesanya to retain his titles against Jarod Cannonier before his winning bet in London.

Pimblett has enjoyed a rapid rise in the UFC having won his first three fights and was rewarded with a lucrative new deal having been guaranteed only £9,500 for each fight per the terms of his initial contract.
