"It was a huge romantic moment – everyone thought it was part of a big proposal, he didn't get down on one knee but it's clear Melanie is The One," one audience member told the MailOnline after the show.

Melanie, who runs beauty and wellbeing business Auraya, met Steven thanks to Instagram in 2016, after striking up a conversation under one of the the entrepreneur's relationship videos.

Seemingly speaking about their split in the past, the Dragon's Den star admitted his focus on making money impacts his romantic relationships.

"I've just come out of a long-term relationship that's lasted… well, in my mind it's long-term because I've never had a relationship other than this one, for about a year," he explained on his YouTube channel.

Steven has previously spoken about juggling his work commitments with a relationship (BBC)

"That relationship was fantastic and all those things that relationships should be but unfortunately because of my lack of time and my lack of mental focus, and the amount of things I have competing for my attention every single day, that relationship fell apart."

He went on to explain how his unnamed former girlfriend, most likely Melanie, struggled with his failure to recognise anyone 'exists' when he's working on his business.

"The way it is with me, between the hours of say seven in the morning and nine o' clock at night, I am in the zone, I've got total tunnel vision," the entrepreneur admitted.

"I honestly do not realise that there's anyone else outside of my business and rooms I sit in that exists in terms of my personal and private life."

He continued: "So if my family or girlfriend text me, or message me during the day, the chances of me engaging in that meaningfully in that period is virtually impossible.

"In the evenings I'm often consumed with the day and I find it hard to switch off and engage with other relationships and that also costs those relationships."
