Dr Martina Collins opens up on offering 'non-surgical face lift' in Northern Ireland

Dr Martina Collins has told all on a 'needle-free facial-sculpting procedure' she is now offering in NI.

The treatment is EMFACE, a 'non-surgical face-lift' created by BTL, which is said to treat the full face in 20 minutes.

Dr Collins, Principal Dentist and owner of Martina Collins Dental & Skin Clinic, and one of the judges of the NI Beauty Excellence Awards, is the first to offer it in Northern Ireland.

Creators say: "By emitting both synchronized RF and HIFESTM energies, it simultaneously affects the facial skin and muscles. The end result is less wrinkles and more lift naturally without needles."

Speaking to Belfast Live, Martina, who has clinics on the Lisburn Road and in Hillsborough, said: "We are the first clinic in Northern Ireland to get it which we are very excited about.

"I am very interested in this technology... really the beauty of EMFACE is that it combines different technologies in one machine.

"It combines a very specific form of radiofrequency called monopolar radiofrequency.

"It combines that technology with another technology called HIFES, which is high intensity facial [electromagnetic] stimulation.

"The beauty of EMFACE is that it works superficially on the outside of the skin, so it's going to heat up the tissue, cause promotion of collagen and elastin on the surface of the skin, which has the effect of skin tightening and reduction in fine lines and wrinkles on the surface of the face, which is huge.

"That's working on the outside...

"Because it is increasing collagen and everything, it'll improve the texture of the skin. It's engineered in a very certain way, so although it heats up the surface of the skin, it preserves the fat underneath the skin.

"HIFES, it basically sculpts, it stimulates the deep muscles of the face, which causes the muscles to contract, triggers muscle tissue to kind of synthesise and it means that it has an effect on the deep structure of the face, and actually adds volume to the muscles.

"So you are going to increase your midface volume which is what kind of that fillers do. And you are going to decrease this fold between the cheek and the mouth which everybody gets, the nasolabial fold, and it also increases the contour of the face, and your jawline specifically."

Emface claims to achieve on average 37% wrinkle reduction, 30% increase in muscle tone and 23% more lift.

Martina added: "The beauty of this treatment is that it is painless.

"You have no downtime and you have no pain."

She explained that you have a 20 minute session on the machine and that users will need around four sessions, roughly a week apart, for the course. A course of four sessions is currently priced at £2,000.

Then one session per year is recommended as maintenance, which is priced at £600.

Martina added that older patients may need a few more sessions for their treatment.

She says Emface is not being recommended for anyone under the age 35/40, but it "depends on your genetics, how much you have been in the sun, how much you have looked after your skin..."

Dr Collins added: "I would say around the age of 40 for Emface, and it goes right up to 65/70."

She continued: "Dermal fillers in the face are a great tool, we've used them for years, but in a way they are kind of going in there masking what aging does...

"What this does is it actually almost repairs your aging process..."

The dental and skin clinic owner, who has tried the treatment herself, explained how it feels.

"The muscle stimulation goes from 0-100. The little pads [are] applied to the face, to the forehead and the midface.

"What you will feel is when they turn on the machine, you will feel this intense contraction of your face, to the point where your face almost goes into a kind of twitch.

"These pads are providing the radiofrequency and the muscle stimulation.

"I actually found it relatively comfortable. I was able to bang mine up to 100 after the first session. It doesn't matter how intense you go, it's just what feels comfortable for you.

"Even if you can only withstand 75% contraction, that's going to work for you," Dr Collins said.

Sian Keane, Area Manager for BTL, who are proud event partners of the NI Beauty Excellence Awards commented: "I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to place the Emface device at Martina Collins' prestigious clinic, where it promises to revolutionise the aesthetics industry in Northern Ireland.

"The Emface technology represents a major breakthrough in non-invasive procedures, and I am honored to have played a part in bringing this cutting-edge treatment to the region. With its advanced features and proven efficacy, Emface is set to redefine the standards of aesthetic procedures, and I am confident that it will be a game-changer for both practitioners and clients alike."
