The North East is basking in glorious sunshine and temperatures are expected to stay warm over the coming days.
Other parts of the UK are also scorching, with some areas seeing highs of 33C. Now TV Dr Amir Khan has shared some surprising tips to help people stay cool during the hot weather.
On ITV's Lorraine show on Monday, which was being hosted by Carol Vorderman, Dr Amir Khan said people may be tempted to go for a cold shower or cool drink to bring down their temperatures. But he explained they should actually do the direct opposite.

He said: "Warm showers and hot drinks are better for you in the heat because hot showers will force your blood vessels to dilate and blood circulation to the surface of the skin. That will help release heat from the blood as it evaporates out."
The doctor also advised people to put an icepack or ice cubes in front of a fan to spread cool air around the room. And Carol was in hysterics as he also said people could use a cooling dog mat, reports the Liverpool Echo.
He told viewers: "They put gels inside and you can put them in the fridge and you can use them as pillows." The North East saw temperatures of up to 28C on Monday and the Met Office was predicting that the weather would stay warm for the rest of this week too.
