In truly devastating news, Nagi Maehashi, famously known as RecipeTin Eats, has announced that her dog, Dozer Maehashi, has died.
On Sunday, Maehashi shared a video on social media, announcing that her fur baby has passed away following a short battle with a lung infection.
“He didn’t make it. My heart is shattered,” Maehashi wrote alongside a video jam-packed with lovely memories of Dozer and his many, many talents.
Two weeks ago, Maehashi opened up about Dozer’s condition, revealing he had a lung infection that spread to his other lung.
“Dozer has been in ICU since Thursday. He has a lung infection, and I just found out it’s spread to his other lung,” she wrote.
“Given his existing medical condition (laryngeal paralysis / neurological degradation) and age (almost 14!❤️), I’ve been and will continue to be by his side every minute I can.
“He’s getting the best possible care @sash_vets North Ryde. I can’t speak highly enough of the women and men who work here, everyone from the vets to the nurses to the surgeons to [the receptionists]. Whatever happens, I will be forever grateful.
“Please be strong, Dozer. I’m not ready to say goodbye yet.”
In a second post, Maehashi announced she would be stepping back from posting recipes to spend time with Dozer.
“My sweet boy has been fighting hard, but the gut-wrenching truth is that we are in the final chapter of Life of Dozer,” she wrote in the video.
Tributes flow for Dozer Maehashi
Since sharing the heartbreaking news, Maehashi’s post has been flooded with support and love.
“Sorry, Nagi-san,” author Yumi Stynes wrote.
“Sending so much love, Nagi. The goodest boy,” Tully Smyth commented.
“Oh, Nagi, I am so sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace, and may you find strength in this impossible time. Sending you love and light,” fellow food blogger Sneh Roy wrote.
Dozer played a massive part in Maehashi’s life. The adorable pup featured in many of Maehashi’s posts and was often included in her projects, including her viral cookbook RecipeTin Eats: Dinner.
You will be missed, Dozer. Wishing Maehashi so much strength during this dark time.
