'Dozens' of dead sharks found by dog walker washed up on beach sparking fishing fears

Dozens of sharks have washed up on a beach in Merseyside. The strange sight was witnessed by dog walker Mick Preston, from Meols, Wirral, who had gone to Leasowe Beach on Wednesday when he saw a social media post about dead sea creatures washed up on the sand.

The 37-year-old said he counted 25 smooth-hound sharks on a small stretch of the beach but it's feared the number could be much higher with another man telling the Liverpool ECHO he found more than a hundred scattered across the sand.

Mick said: "Me and the Mrs and dog went for a walk and it's just not a nice sight. I've done this for a hobby for 22 years - I've fished the Mersey since I was 14.
