Dozens of vulnerable puppies have been removed from the Christmas trade during a sting between a council animal welfare team, DAERA investigators and harbour police.
The 29 pups, all just a few weeks old, have been taken in by Mid Antrim Animal Sanctuary and Almost Home Animal Sanctuary NI and will be placed in foster care until after Christmas.
The seizure was made in the early hours of Thursday, December 15 when a car carrying the puppies was stopped and searched and discrepancies were found in paperwork. They are now in the process of being fostered over the Christmas period and will be adopted in the new year.
