Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay gives birth to twin boys after IVF struggle

Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay has announced she has welcomed twin boys with her husband Ziggy Heath.

The actress, who played Lady Sybil in the hit ITV period drama, took to Instagram on Thursday to share the first snap of her gorgeous newborn sons.

Jessica revealed her boys were born on Bonfire Night as she wrote: "5.11.2 Our boys! Remember Remember."

It is a poignant moment for the ITV star who has been open about her fertility struggles.

Back in March, Jessica, who first went public with her pregnancy in September at the Venice Film Festival, spoke about her journey towards motherhood with a candid post to celebrate International Women's Day.

Taking to her Instagram account, the star shared a video of her applying hormone injections to her 35,300 followers - giving her thoughts on the process in the caption.

"Happy International Women’s day!" Jessica began.

"We do hard things and then go dancing x."

In the sped-up clip, Jessica wears a vintage patterned co-ord as she injects hormones into her midriff, which typically increase the number of eggs produced by the ovaries.

"IVF has made me even more aware of just how much women are capable of and what we can achieve whilst going through pain and heart break," she continued in the candid caption.

"Your body is not the enemy. Love it. No matter what."

The Lady Sybil Crawley actress thoughtfully added: "Sending love and support to every woman I have ever met and all the ones I haven’t but know what this is.

"I throughly [sic] recommend doing it all in Vintage Clothing.

"Love. Love. Love."

Hundreds rushed to comment on the Jessica's insightful post on Tuesday, with one fan writing: "Jess, you are a gem. It is a real taboo and not talked about enough. Much love and luck to you."

Another also praised the star for her honesty, commenting: "Thank you for showing this! I wish you all the luck and happiness going forward! You are tougher than anything life will throw at you."

In vitro fertilisation - AKA IVF -a medical procedure whereby an egg is fertilized by sperm in a test tube or elsewhere outside the body.

Jessica and husband Ziggy tied the knot in 2020, with just 30 guests present due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The happy couple met on the set of the Hulu show Harlots, a period drama television series, three years prior to marrying.

Jessica confirmed they had become husband-and-wife by sharing a sweet Instagram post of the pair embracing on their big day, as well as another of the pair inside of the church where they said 'I do'.
