Down have stated that James McCartan remains in his role as senior football manager following rumours regarding his future in recent days.
It follows a turbulent weekend for the Mourne County after an alleged discipline breach during a training weekend in Dublin.
It is understood that several members of the squad returned home earlier on Saturday with McCartan believed to have informed the Down county board of his intention to leave his role.

On Monday, the Down county board denied that there was to be an extraordinary executive meeting to discuss the fallout, but Belfast Live understands that high-level talks were held to have the matter resolved.
This evening (Wednessday), Down secretary Sean Óg McAteer told the Gaelic Life that the issue was now dealt with, saying: “The matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of everybody. Players have accepted responsibility and have rectified the situation.”
McAteer also confirmed that McCartan’s backroom team of O’Rourke, Ronan McMahon and Philip McEvoy remains intact.
McCartan was one of the last appointments ahead of the 2022 campaign following a protracted managerial search to find a replacement for Paddy Tally, who subsequently joined Jack O’Connor’s management team in Kerry.
Down suffered relegation from Division Two last month and must reach the provincial final to avoid playing in the inaugural Tailteann Cup.
The Mournemen will be hoping to put the saga behind them swiftly as they continue their preparations for their Ulster SFC quarter-final meeting with Monaghan in Clones on Saturday, May 30.
