Second gentleman Doug Emhoff visited Arizona, a crucial battleground state, to rally supporters ahead of the start of early voting. Emhoff emphasized the significance of Arizona in determining the outcome of the election, stating that the 'path to victory runs right through here.'
During the campaign rally in Phoenix, Emhoff addressed key issues, questioning the future of democracy and the restoration of fundamental freedoms that he believes were taken away by President Trump. He highlighted his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Tim Walz as leaders who could pave the way for a new direction.
Emhoff praised Harris for her leadership in hurricane recovery efforts and criticized Trump for what he described as spreading misinformation about the federal government's response to Hurricane Helene. He accused Trump of prioritizing personal interests over the well-being of the American people.
Emhoff also took a swipe at Trump for avoiding an interview with CBS' '60 Minutes' and dodging a potential debate with Harris. He even acknowledged a comedic portrayal of himself by actor Andy Samberg on 'Saturday Night Live.'
Amidst the rally, Emhoff faced interruptions from protesters, who were escorted out as the crowd chanted in support of moving forward. Emhoff emphasized the importance of free speech and continued with his speech, undeterred.
He highlighted Harris' campaign proposals, including a new plan for Medicare to cover home health care services, as part of their vision for the future.
