Residents have described the moment a double-decker bus smashed into a period property in Norfolk as sounding “like a bomb had gone off”.
Police were called to West Road in Ormesby St Margaret, near Great Yarmouth, at 10.12am on Thursday after reports of a double-decker bus colliding with a house.
Dramatic pictures show a gaping hole in the side of the house where the red bus crashed with bricks and rubble covering the ground.
Speaking to ITV News Anglia, neighbours said the crash was “shocking” and “really dramatic”.
Kevin Griffin, 63, said: "I was coming out of my front door of my house here, and I just glanced to my side, and then there was a bus coming towards my house," he said.
"Then I saw a big cloud of dust. It sounded like an explosion. It sounded like a bomb going off, and there was dust everywhere, and I just ran through my gate to my bus.
"I got onto the bus, then I was helping people get off the bus. It was upsetting.”
Nobody was injured in the collision, police said.
A Norfolk Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to West Road, Ormesby at 10.12am yesterday morning following reports that a double-decker bus had collided with a house. No one has been injured.
“Officers are no longer on scene and the road closure is being managed by Highways.”
