Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc was left embarrassed and ashamed of a "disgraceful" performance against Rangers.
The German giants were favourites to win the Europa League going into the first leg of their play-off match but instead ended up on the end of a humbling defeat.
Gio van Bronckhorst 's side ran out 4-2 winners on the night and will have 50,000 Rangers fans behind them when they welcome BVB for the second leg next week.
And while the Bundesliga side's chief affirmed his confidence in boss Marco Rose, he did not hold back in his assessment of Dortmund 's performance.
Zorc told Bild: "I'm still shocked, I'm lost for words!
"It was an embarrassing performance from the first to the last minute, a disgraceful performance.
"A Thursday evening under the lights, slight drizzle but not too cold, in a European competition against a historic team like Rangers - what more could you want?
"But the team didn't take the game on, they weren't ready for this duel. If they have the balls they'll turn it around in the second leg.
"We played too slowly and didn't raise the tempo at the crucial moments. It was a shameful performance."
