Donny van de Beek hopeful of Manchester United granting loan transfer

Donny van de Beek could leave Manchester United on loan before Monday's transfer deadline.

Van de Beek, 24, is attracting interest after starting just four times this season and is confident of receiving permission to leave from interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund were both offered Van de Beek by his new agent, Ali Dursun, and Crystal Palace have enquired about the Dutch playmaker.

Van de Beek's partner is the daughter of Arsenal great Dennis Bergkamp, who remains close to his former Arsenal teammate and Palace manager Patrick Vieira.

United's switch to a 4-3-3 formation and the expected return of Paul Pogba from a thigh injury next week could further restrict Van de Beek's playing prospects if he stays beyond January.

The Manchester Evening News reported on Thursday Van de Beek is 'upset' by his situation at United and felt misled over his playing opportunities by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Figures at United believe Van de Beek lacks the required physicality to succeed in the Premier League even though he added muscle mass in the close season.

Van de Beek has not started a Premier League game since May and he has only lined up in four league games since he joined United in a £40million deal 17 months ago.

United moved for Van de Beek as they had been priced out of a move for Jack Grealish by Aston Villa and James Maddison had agreed a new contract with Leicester. Van de Beek was expected to move to Real Madrid from Ajax prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rangnick confirmed earlier this month Van de Beek wanted to leave to get regular playing time and force his way back into the Netherlands squad ahead of the winter World Cup.

Coach Louis van Gaal has omitted Van de Beek from all three of his squads so far this season and Van de Beek had to withdraw from the European Championship squad due to a groin injury.
