Donegal set to appoint new senior football manager on Monday night

DONEGAL are set to ratify their new senior manager on Monday night with Aidan O’Rourke and Paddy Carr poised to get the nod.

Former Armagh All-Ireland winner O’Rourke and ex-Donegal player Carr both emerged as candidates to replace Declan Bonner last week.

The field opened up when it emerged that favourite, Donegal All-Ireland winner Rory Kavanagh, wasn’t prepared to put his name forward.

Carr and O’Rourke are understood to have joined forces in a bid to land the post.

Both men have previously managed Louth, while O’Rourke was a coach with Kildare, Armagh and Down.

Carr led Kilmacud Crokes, who he also played for, to the 2009 All-Ireland club title.

A meeting has been called for Monday evening where the appointment is likely to be ratified.

Roscommon are the only other county yet to appoint a football manager for 2023.
