Donations for Ukrainian refugees needed by Bristol charity delivering to the border

A collection in Bristol for Ukrainian refugees has been organised by the honorary Romanian consul for the South West of England. Three collections have been organised by them so far, and their efforts are continuing at the Bristol International Centre for Ukraine, which can be found at 9 Willway Street in Bedminster.

Donations can be left from 3pm until 6pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 10am until 1pm on the weekend. A list of items which people are being asked to contribute can be found on the consul's Facebook page, and includes food, medicine, toiletries and sleeping bags.

Recently, a collection organised by the consul saw 25 cubic metres of essential items sent to Ukraine, and it left for Eastern Europe on March 13. They have also collected £1,000 in cash donations.

In a Facebook appeal for more people to offer aid to the war-torn country, Dr Răzvan Constantinescu, honorary consul-general of Romania in the South West, wrote: "Huge thanks to our friends and generous donor communities from Cornwall who delivered today another van-load of aid. We were overwhelmed by people’s kindness, generosity, warmth, hard work and resolve.

"One such special gestures was the delicious Ukrainian cake we received from a kind hearted lady." Constantinescu co-founded the charity From Bristol with Love in 2013 to support disadvantaged people in Romania."

To volunteer for shifts of up to three hours, people are being asked to write to Volunteers@BristolLoveTrust.uk.

They are also taking donations to their UK charity account as they need funds to secure further transports. You can address these to From Bristol with Love for Ukraine, with the account number 67753560 and sort code 30-92-86.
