Donald Trump To Address Libertarians At National Convention

Donald Trump looks Confident.

Donald Trump is set to address the Libertarians’ National Convention on Saturday night in an attempt to sway activists who are skeptical of the GOP front runner and divert them from independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The convention, themed 'Become Ungovernable,' is taking place at the Washington Hilton hotel.

Trump's campaign views his appearance as part of a strategy to engage potential supporters in non-traditional Republican strongholds. Despite expecting opposition from some attendees, Trump's team hopes his presence will be acknowledged as a demonstration of his commitment to securing votes.

The Libertarian National Convention attendees sported MAGA hats and explored booths featuring mutual aid organizations, Libertarian-themed merchandise, and controversial messages like 'F--- the vaccine.' This convention marked the first time a Republican candidate accepted an invitation to speak at the Libertarian Party event.

Leading up to Trump's speech, tensions were palpable as his supporters mingled with Libertarian delegates, prompting a plea for civility from Libertarian Party National Chair Angela McArdle. Attendees expressed diverse views, with some advocating for the release of Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht and others emphasizing the importance of alternative candidates.

Notably, attendees carried rubber chickens capable of creating disruptive noise during Trump's speech, signaling their discontent with his avoidance of candidate debates. The event attracted a mix of individuals, including political influencers like Tiffany Cianci, who aimed to document the proceedings for online audiences.

Before Trump took the stage, Libertarian delegates outlined topics they hoped he would address, such as advocating for Julian Assange's release and promoting peace over war. Trump's evolving stance on Kennedy, from praise to criticism, was evident as he discouraged voters from supporting Kennedy, suggesting it would be a 'wasted protest vote.'

Overall, the Libertarians’ National Convention served as a platform for diverse perspectives and discussions, highlighting the intersection of political ideologies and the quest for alternative choices in the upcoming election.
