Donald Trump said Joe Rogan should “stop apologising” after the musician was hit with vaccine misinformation and N-word scandals.

The former President showed his support for Rogan as he encouraged him to “keep doing what he’s doing” on Twitter.

He said in a statement: “Joe Rogan is an interesting and popular guy, but he’s got to stop apologizing to the Fake News and Radical Left maniacs and lunatics.

“How many ways can you say you’re sorry? Joe, just go about what you do so well and don’t let them make you look weak and frightened. That’s not you and it never will be!”

Over the weekend, Rogan said he was sorry for using the N-word after clips resurfaced on social media.

He said it was “the most regretful and shameful thing I’ve ever had to talk about publicly”.

In a video posted on Instagram on Saturday, Rogan said: “There’s a compilation made of clips, taken out of context, of me of 12 years of conversations on my podcast. It’s all smooshed together and it looks f***ing horrible, even to me.

“I know for most people there’s no context where a white person is allowed to say that word – and I agree with that now.”

Controversy has been swirling around Rogan after Neil Young led musicians in pulling his music from Spotify over a Covid misinformation row.

Young accused Rogan of spreading misinformation about Covid vaccines in his podcast The Joe Rogan experience which is available on the music streaming giant.

More than 70 episodes of Rogan’s podcasts were removed from Spotify.

But Spotify’s chief executive Daniel Ek has warned “cancelling voices is a slipper slope” as he reiterated his refusal to “silence” the podcaster.

In an email sent to staff seen by The Hollywood Reporter, he wrote: “I want to make one point very clear — I do not believe that silencing Joe is the answer. We should have clear lines around content and take action when they are crossed, but cancelling voices is a slippery slope...

“Not only are some of Joe Rogan’s comments incredibly hurtful – I want to make clear that they do not represent the values of this company. I know this situation leaves many of you feeling drained, frustrated and unheard.”
