Donald Trump admitted he tells his wife Melania to "just leave me alone" when he is upset - as he launched his bid to be US president again.
The former president announced his candidacy for the 2024 elections as he seeks to regain the White House he lost to incumbent Joe Biden.
"I go home and she says – they do love her – and she says, 'You look angry and upset', and I tell her, "Just leave me alone, I got this."
It "hasn’t been a joyride for our great first lady", Trump added.
He paid tribute to his wife, 52, to whom he has been married since 2005.
"Hasn’t been easy, but she’s been a great first lady and people love her," he said.
At his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump said: "In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States."
Trump was recently reported to have been upset at the supposed suggestion so f his closest advice, as he saw his endorsed candidates Dr Mehmet Oz and Blake Masters lose their key Midterm Senate races in Pennsylvania and Arizona respectively.
New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman reported Trump was "indeed furious" after the underwhelming performance by the Republican Party.
Haberman wrote that Trump "is blaming everyone who advised him to back Oz - including his wife, describing it as not her best decision."
The pair share a son, Barron, while Trump also lauded his second eldest boy Eric Trump in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
"My one boy, stand up," Donald said. "I think he got more subpoenas than any man in the history of our country. Al Capone got far less. Billy the kid got almost none. Jesse James, none. Eric Trump, he’s a PhD in subpoenas."
Trump's recent frustrations about the midterms also coincide with a number of senior GOP officials questioning if he is the right person to lead the party.
Former loyal Trump aide said on CNN: "I think he's the only Republican who could lose."
His former Vice president Mike Pence added "we'll have better choices."
Billionaire media baron Rupert Murdoch also appears to have dropped Trump, as the popular US Republican-leading tabloid The New York Post (NYP) ran a front page called the former president "Trumpty Dumpty".
As the GOP struggled to reach consistent comprehensive victories in other states, the party's performance in Florida looked encouraging.
Governor Ron DeSantis was re-elected in a landslide and is now widely tipped to be the favourite to secure the party's nomination for 2024.
The NYP dubbed the former Navy SEAL "DeFuture", but he has earned the ire of Trump, who believes him to be "Ron DeSanctimonious".
