Donald Trump pleads with Melania 'I really need you' after historic arrest

Donald Trump reportedly made a post-arrest plea to wife Melania to stay with him, insisting: "I really need you."

The former president was spotted with Melania for the first time in ten days at an Easter Brunch in Mara-Lago in Florida, US, on Sunday after the 76-year-old was charged with allegedly paying hush-money to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The former first lady chose not to attend her husband's indictment charges hearing in New York as he pleaded not guilty to 34 felony charges.

However, according to a source, the 76-year-old pleaded for his wife to return to his side as he tried to rally support.

The source told Page Six: "He told her, ‘I really need you for this because we are going to be campaigning'.

"They had a major talk over the weekend, and she has … agreed to be on board."

It is claimed the pair received a standing ovation from members as they entered the ballroom on Sunday - but sat on a separate table away from everyone.

However, according to Page 6, this was Melania's request as she demanded to be alone with him.

A source told them: “She wanted just to be alone with him; that was her request.

"The fact it was the two of them alone was a big statement. This was a statement [saying], ‘We are together, I stand by my husband.”

There was a red velvet rope blocking off the members which was deliberate, according to people close to Melania.

The source added: "It was two of them and they had roped off the table. I think she wanted to show support, but didn’t want to have to talk about any of this s–t.”

Melania was noticeably absent from her husband's speech on Tuesday at their home in Florida as she chose to stay away from the limelight.

However, she broke her silence on Sunday by tweeting "Happy Easter" to her followers, which was the first time she had spoken out since her husband's arrest.

It was reported Melania was unhappy with Mr Trump following revelations he allegedly had an affair with a porn star.

And during his speech after the indictment charges hearing back in Florida, the former president made no reference to his wife.

He paid tribute to his children, advisors, lawyers but there was no mention for Melania as Trump's father-in-law was seen attending the speech in the front row.

Members of Mr Trump's family and lawyers took her place instead.

Experts believe her decision to stay away from the public gaze was a deliberate one, according to Lauren Wright, a political scientist at Princeton University.

She told Mail Online: "Throughout Trump’s presidency, when the Stormy Daniels issue came up, Melania would assert her independence in one way or another, either avoiding the topic or, most famously, contradicting those who claimed to know her feelings about the alleged extramarital dalliance."
