US President Donald Trump has called for late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel to be sacked following his widow joke about the first lady Melania Trump.

Mr Trump criticised the presenter in a post on his social media platform Truth Social just minutes before the King and Queen landed in Washington for a four-day state visit, and echoed comments his wife had made earlier in the day calling for US media network ABC to “take a stand” against Kimmel.
