Don’t hold files for more than 3 days: UP CM Yogi Adityanath to officials

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday instructed government officials to implement the citizen charter in all offices and not to keep any file pending for more than three days.

At a meeting of Team-9 for Covid management on Wednesday, the CM insisted that citizen's charter, the framework finalised by the government to dispose of the applications and grievances of public, needs to be adhered to.

"No file should be kept pending in any office for more than three days. Accountability of the person concerned should be fixed in case of delay," he later tweeted. The department concerned will have to either approve the request or cancel it, citing the reason but the matter will have to be disposed of in a time-bound manner, said the CM.

Insisting that the lunch break in government offices should not be more than 30 minutes, Yogi asked senior officials to ensure punctuality of employees. Department heads must carry out surprise inspections on a regular basis.

"Senior government, administrative and police officials are habitual of exiting office for more than an hour for lunch on a daily basis and it will be interesting to see how such officials will cope up with this order," said an observer.
