Don’t fall into opposition trap and get diverted from main issues: PM Narendra Modi

NEW DELHI: PM Modi asked BJP leaders not to “fall in the trap” of some political parties which have an “ecosystem” to divert the country’s attention from main matters. “For own benefit, these political parties try to poison the society on issues... they try to instigate in the name of caste and religion. We should never fall in the trap of such parties,” he said in a virtual address at the BJP national officer-bearers’ meeting in Jaipur.

PM Modi also used the occasion to speak indirectly about the recent controversies over language issues, saying, “Prioritising local languages in the new National Education Policy reflects our commitment to each regional language. BJP considers Indian languages to be the soul of Indianness and a link to a better future for the nation.”

He said the 2014 verdict was a turning point in Indian politics as people opted for a change after suffering for decades. In order to retain BJP’s pre-eminence for the next 25 years, Modi asked party workers to take a pledge to ensure that every citizen avails the benefits of the welfare schemes. He floated the slogan of “Har Ghar Bhajpa, Har Garib Ka Kalyan” and suggested that party workers should reach out to every household just like they do during polls.

“Our steps should not go astray and we don’t have to let our tongues slip. What are these issues? Poor’s welfare, making their life easier. We have to keep working to empower the poor,” the PM said.

Modi once again spoke against the dominance of the dynasty in politics saying that “if democracy has to be saved, democracy has to be empowered, democracy has to be made value-oriented, then we have to fight relentlessly against this dynasty, family politics”.
