Senator John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania Democrat, just issued a warning to protesters in Minnesota, urging them to stop doxing federal immigration agents involved in the Trump administration’s intense crackdown in the state. According to The Hill, Fetterman addressed the issue during an interview, defending the agents who have been seen wearing masks while conducting operations.
Fetterman pointed out that the masking is a direct response to organized efforts to “dox those people.” The senator stressed that this is a serious threat, noting that once names are put out there, protesters “could target their families.” “Don’t ever, ever dox people and target their families, too,” Fetterman warned.
The broader immigration operations in Minnesota have drawn massive outrage from Democrats and even some Republicans in Congress, primarily because of concerns over federal agents’ use of force. Their activities in Minnesota have led to the fatal shooting of two American citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and the non-fatal shooting of a Venezuelan migrant.
The resulting anger is slowly spiralling out of control
In response, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer cited the masking ban as one of the major reforms the party wants to see implemented at the Department of Homeland Security, or DHS. This push for reform is happening now, as Congress debates the government funding package that caused a partial government shutdown. Schumer is also urging DHS to address agents’ use of force and warrant protocol and institute requirements for body cameras and identification.
The masking issue is a real flashpoint. Many Democrats have been highly critical of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers’ decision to wear masks while out in the field. However, DHS, which oversees ICE, says this practice is strictly to protect their agents from doxing. The agency has noted that agents and their families have already been targeted.

Fetterman has definitely not been shy about joining his colleagues in criticizing the Minnesota operation. Last week, he actually voted against a funding package that included extended funds for ICE. He’s also echoed calls to oust Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem by appealing directly to President Trump on Social Media.
For Fetterman, the current situation is clearly a matter of life and death, and that’s why he’s taking such a strong stand against the violence. He summed up his position by saying, “For me, people are dying, and I don’t think America wants people going after otherwise hard-working migrants in these communities right now. ”However, it is also clear that he doesn’t think that anger towards agents should endanger their family, which is an admirable outlook.
