Domino's worker shares trick for perfect 'cheese pull' - and leftover pizza waffle hack

Pizza lovers rejoice, your favourite day of the year has arrived - it's National Pizza Day!

As such we're sure many will be either cooking pizza for dinner or ordering a takeaway from their local pizza place to celebrate the occasion in the most appropriate way.

Domino's is a popular takeaway option for many and while the pizza already tastes good an expert has shared several hacks to take your order and any leftovers you may have to the next level.

Hollie Watson, the Head Pizza Hacker at Domino's claims the ultimate leftover hack is to make yourself a 'grilled cheese pizza waffle' and we have to admit it does sound rather dreamy.

She told The Mirror: "Put two slices, toppings facing together, into a toastie maker to make a grilled cheese pizza waffle.

"This is best done with cheese-based pizzas like Cheese and Tomato."

Other tips for leftovers include getting thrifty with your crusts and turning them into croutons or breadsticks.

And when reheating any pizza in the microwave, be sure to "sprinkle crusts with water before reheating" as this will stop them from becoming chewy.

Moreover, Hollie urges pizza fans to try a pizza roll-up, by rolling a slice of pizza up around the crust and then biting to "get both crust and topping in every bite".

"For added texture, place a Chicken Stripper on the slice lengthways before you roll it up," the expert advises.

The pizza expert also shared some words of wisdom for anyone attempting to make a Domino's fakeaway at home for themselves, saying: "If you want to make your own Domino's at home, be sure to buy good quality ingredients and don’t scrimp on the toppings.

"Make your pizza sauce in advance (at least a day before) so the flavours can mature before you use it. Use ripe tomatoes for sweetness and plenty of herbs and seasoning are a must, and whizz up your sauce so it's as smooth as possible."

She continued: "When assembling to get the perfect cheese pull at home, sprinkle diced mozzarella from up high to evenly cover the pizza, this results in the ultimate, delicious cheese pull in every slice."

Once your pizza comes out of the oven, if you find it's covered in huge, blistered bubbles then you might have an issue with your dough.

Hollie adds: "Sometimes when you make your own pizza at home, you get huge, blistered bubbles as it comes out of the oven. This can cause your toppings to slide around, and nobody wants that! If you use pizza dough at room temperature, when it’s most relaxed, you'll get the best quality pizza."

This comes after a top chef shared tips for making dough at home to ensure your pizza tastes great.
