Domino's Pizza 'wins Twitter' after 'savage' Holly and Phil dig

Domino's Pizza has made a dig at Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield amid a row over "queue jumping".

The This Morning presenters were scrutinised after they both appeared to skip the line for the Queen's lying in state. Members of the public were forced to endure waiting time of hours with the minimum stretching to an entire day in some instances.

Celebrities, television personalities and sporting stars were all spotted in the queue including David Beckham who waited for 12 hours to pay his respects. After Holly and Phil were spotted not having to wait, This Morning was forced to issue a statement following intense backlash.

Huw Edwards fans believe he made a jeer directed at the pair on BBC news on Sunday. The presenter said: "There have been quite a few familiar faces in the queue for that lying in state. We did of course see a certain David Beckham there on Friday.

"He was widely praised for queuing for hours and hours, not jumping the queue because he’s a superstar VIP; no he was in the queue for many hours. Good for him.”

Eamonn Holmes has also waded into the row. On Twitter, he liked a user's response.

User @dougiebrimson said: "Thoughts are with the @thismorning writer currently slaving over a laptop desperately trying to come up with a convincing excuse for Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby #queuejumping."

Eamonn liked Nicole Ramsamy's reply which read: "Does this mean we can have @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL back on @thismorning please?!"

Now, Domino's Pizza has added its comments into the mix. A tweet from the pizza brand's official account on Tuesday said: "Apologies to anyone waiting on their pizza, we've just received an order from Holly and Phil #ThisMorning".

The tweet has quickly gathered thousands of likes, retweets and replies. Jack said: "Domino's throwing shade [cry-laughing emojis]", while James said: "This wins Twitter today".

George Ward said: "Class", while Laura said: "Tweet of the day!". Cherelle said: "Savage! [skull emojis]".

During a memorial for the Queen that opened today's instalment of This Morning, Holly issued an official statement regarding the queue jump. She said: "As broadcasters and journalists, we were given official permission to access the hall.

"It was strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK who haven't been able to visit Westminster in person. The rules were that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to the platform at the back.

"Those paying respects moved along a carpeted area alongside the coffin and were given time to pause. None of the broadcasters and journalists there took anyone's place in the queue and no one filed past the queen.

"We of course respected those rules however we realise it may have looked like something else and completely understand the reaction. Please know that we would never jump the queue."
