Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been the target of abundant criticism to this point in his career.
Between all of the rumors about Deshaun Watson or Tom Brady taking his job or the incessant questioning of his arm strength, it hasn’t been a great start for the former Crimson Tide quarterback.
However, he’s recently had his coach and his top wide receiver constantly reminding him, and everybody who will listen, that he’s talented and was a first-round pick for a reason.
On Tyreek Hill’s new podcast, “It Needed to be Said,” the wide receiver was asked about playing with a new quarterback, and he responded just like he has every time he’s been asked about Tagovailoa.
“Man, I’ve had the chance to see Tua throw the ball, to myself, but he’s that dude,” Hill said. “A lot of people don’t know. I’m not just sitting here just saying this because he’s my quarterback. I’m not trying to get more targets right now, but what I’m to say is Tua is that deal. Bro, he has a heck of an arm. He’s accurate, he can throw the deep ball and he actually goes through his reads while people on Twitter are saying ‘Oh, he doesn’t go through his reads.’ Man, this dude is that dude.”
Hill’s co-host Julius Collins then asked the wideout to pick who had the stronger arm between his former quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and Tagovailoa.
“Obviously, I’m gonna go with one five as the strongest arm, but as far as accuracy-wise, I’m going with Tua all day,” Hill said. “I want it to hit me right in the bread basket just like I did in the Buffalo Bills game and take it 70 (yards).”
It’s early in his tenure, but it’s evident that Hill is going to go to bat for his guys whenever he feels the need to.
