A Scots family couldn't believe their eyes when a pod of dolphins came and leaped out of the water to give them a special show at Greenock Esplanade.
The animals were seen splashing around in the water in the River Clyde on Thursday afternoon.
David Ross was enjoying a stroll down the Esplanade with his wife Pearl and two-year-old granddaughter Maeve when they spotted the dolphins who were only too willing to show off.
Footage taken by the retired 63-year-old shows several dolphins playing in the clip taking turns to leap out of the water with one of the pod even taking on a back flip.
David, who previously owned ABT Machine Tools, told the Record: "We have just returned from a wonderful holiday along The Amalfi Coast, the Bay of Sorrento and Capri and we didn’t experience anything quite like this!
"It was my wife Pearl who spotted the pod, it was just small, perhaps only four or five dolphins as we walked along the Greenock Esplanade at around 3.30pm.
"They appeared to be following a little Puffer as it headed up the Clyde towards Glasgow.
"We were astonished frankly and we brought the sighting to other walkers' attention."
Despite sightings being a rare phenomenon, it's not the first time the animals have been spotted in the Clyde.
A pods of dolphins were also filmed in Greenock last month while they enjoyed playing for about 15 minutes.
