The Miami Dolphins and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio parted ways on Wednesday, and now the team is looking for his replacement after just one season.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins have requested to interview Buffalo Bills linebackers coach Bobby Babich for the position.
Babich, 40, joined the Bills staff in 2017, starting as assistant defensive backs coach, moving to safeties coach from 2018-21 and into his current role from 2022-23.
Prior to his time with Buffalo, he spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, FIU, Eastern Illinois and Kent State.
His father, Bob, was an NFL coach for nearly 20 years, eventually becoming defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears (2007-09) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2013-15).
Babich joins former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley as candidates for the job in Miami. However, the Dolphins will have competition for Babich’s services, as the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants have also requested to interview him.
